One of the best albums from 2016 came from Scottish band Biffy Clyro who have actually been around since the early 2000s. Ellipsis is actually their 7th studio album which went straight to the number one spot in the UK charts upon its release. In addition to their first single, Wolves of Winter, three others were released during the year: the feral Animal Style and the melodic apology Re-arrange, and the great Howl.
2016 saw the return of many bands that made it big in the 90s and early 00s, with brand new releases by Blink 182, Simple Plan, Red Hot Chili Peppers, among others.
In August, Green Day released “Bang, Bang”, the first single from Revolution Radio which came out in October. “Still Breathing”, described by Billie Joe Armstrong as “a very heavy song”, was the second single from this production.

Garbage, with Shirley Manson in the lead, released Strange Little Birds on June, which was preceded a couple month earlier by the first single “Empty”, a song about lacking purpose in life and the inability to move on.

“Fake My Own Death” marked the return of Sum 41 after five years since their last album. Their new album 13 Voices was released on October, preceded by the first official single “War”.
